We all have needs—or do we? The Needs Assessment Process
Identifying needs is about figuring out where you want to go and picking the best way to get there….Yet in common practice, most people first pick the way to get there, without having clarified where they want to arrive.  As someone once said, “if you don’t know where you are going, any road will take you there”.

While that approach may be acceptable, if you have unlimited resources such as time, money, personnel, and others, that is not the reality that most organizations and their members live.  Picking the wrong solutions to our performance needs is expensive, wastes times, creates frustration and disengagement, and destroys our credibility and influence.

 Session objectives:

  • Distinguish needs from solutions
  • Discuss a methodology for identifying needs and solutions
  • Examine different ways of applying this methodology through case studies
